Lavished to tackle top fillies' events

22/07/2008 5:00:00 AM
Promising filly Lavished will be freshened up for the early Black Type three-year-old fillies events after her impressive win at Rosehill on Saturday.

Bede Murray will give the Half Hennessy filly a week at his Conjola farm before stepping up in grade to the Group Three Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on August 23.

"I wouldn't say she surprised us because we always thought she would win in town on a Saturday," Murray said.

"But you like to see them do it before getting too excited and she did (last) Saturday.

"It was a very tough win and I think it means she's earned her chance to take on the better fillies.

"There are some nice races there early in the season for her, so she will have about a week at the farm, no longer, and get ready for the Silver Shadow.

"We'll take it a week at a time after that run."

The Silver Shadow is the start of the Princess Series for three-year-olds, which includes the Tea Rose and Flight Stakes, but Murray believes Lavished will probably only have one or two more starts this time in.

He is convinced the filly will get over ground being by a Queensland Derby winner but admitted she won't be tested over a staying trip until the autumn.

"Both sides of her family have won up to 2400m, so I think there is a fair chance she will stay," Murray said. "We'll probably have to wait for the autumn to try her over a trip when she is a little stronger.

"She has grown since the beginning of the campaign and she is getting better with every run but it would a big ask for her to stay up until October."

Meanwhile promising three-year-old Kenny's World will try to win another BOBS bonus at the final metropolitan Saturday meeting for the season at Canterbury this weekend.

The Kenny's Best Pal gelding, who is trained by Murray's son Graeme, has won four of his six starts, earning more than $135,000 and should get the top weight for his assignment on Saturday.

"We have booked Daniel Ganderton to claim on him because he is going to get a bit of weight," said Bede Murray, who shares in the ownership.

"(Kenny's World) has done well in these BOBS races and this is last chance to try and knock another one off."
