Boxer Shannan Taylor will headline a second KO Leukaemia fight night in the Shoalhaven at the new Nowra Entertainment Centre in October.
Taylor will fight hard-hitting Filipino Dondon Sultan in the main event on a pro-am card.
The first KO Leukaemia boxing night was held at the Shoalhaven Heads Sports and Social Club last month to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
There were eight bouts, six amateur contests including former Shoalhaven, now Wollongong, boxer Nathan Wright, and two professional fights with Taylor winning the International Boxing Federation Australasian super middleweight title to go with the World Boxing Association Pan Asian Boxing Association vacant middleweight title he won on the Gold Coast in June.
The funds raised from the night will go toward the care and cure of patients and families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and other blood-related cancers.
The event was so successful that a second KO Leukaemia evening on October 31 will be presented by Blaster Entertainment in association with Maple Leaf Promotions and Event Management Professionals.
Both evenings would not be possible without the support of sponsors Assist Building and Maintenance, and Bomaderry McDonald's.
"For most of my career I have helped charities that are in need, and if that involves helping kids that makes it even better," Taylor said. "When Greg Turner from Maple Leaf Promotions and Event Management Professionals called my manager Grant Taylor and I about doing a fight night for leukaemia we both said yes straight away."
The Leukaemia Foundation's Illawarra representative, Nina Field, thanked the boxers and sponsors.
"The foundation is committed to providing its vital services to patients and families across Australia and the fundraising support of local communities and clubs such as the Shoalhaven Heads Sports and Social Club is vital for the expansion and management of the increased incidence in blood cancers across the country."
