Brown sends Dell to Burleigh Bears

Wendell Sailor's NRL comeback has been stopped in its tracks again following the return of Dragons superstar centres Mark Gasnier and Matt Cooper.

In one of the toughest decisions of his six-year coaching career, St George Illawarra coach Nathan Brown yesterday dropped Sailor in preference for in-form Josh Morris.

Kiama junior Morris, who has been electric for the Dragons since signing with the Bulldogs for next season two months ago, will play on the right wing in Sunday's clash with Canberra at WIN Stadium.

Sailor will instead fly to the Gold Coast on Friday, before playing with Queensland Cup team Burleigh against Ipswich on Saturday afternoon.

The 33-year-old dual international was to play with the Bears last weekend, before Brown included him in the Dragons team which beat Newcastle 24-16 at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

Burleigh chief executive Adrian Vowles, who played for the Gold Coast Seagulls and North Queensland as well as one State of Origin game for Queensland in 1994, said Sailor would be a welcome addition.

"Wendell still has a massive profile and there is a lot of interest in him up here," he said.

"He's a dual international and it will be great to have him, he obviously brings a lot of enthusiasm and experience, which will be great for the younger guys in the team.

Vowles said: "All the boys in the team look up to Wendell as a player and they're pretty excited to be playing alongside him."

Queensland Cup competition leaders Ipswich are coached by Sailor's former Brisbane and Queensland Origin team-mate Kevin Walters.

Sailor made his rugby league return from a two-year playing ban for cocaine use earlier this year with the Shellharbour Marlins in the Jim Beam Cup.

He played three games for the Marlins, before being thrust into the NRL, where he lasted just 40 minutes after suffering a fractured cheekbone against the Broncos at WIN Stadium.

Sailor was solid in his latest comeback against the Knights and even made a barnstorming 70m run, only to be tackled into touch metres from the line.

Vowles said the Bears would be out to help Sailor on the path back to the NRL.

"We're just trying to play a part in getting Wendell back up there," he said.

In other Dragons selection news, centre Chase Stanley, who starred in the win over Newcastle, has been shifted to the second row, with Ben Creagh ruled out for another week with a knee injury.

Lock Stuart Webb and Matt Prior are expected to drop off an extended interchange, as the Dragons chase a club record equalling eighth straight victory.

I think the best player in the Burleigh side is David Tehuia. Great in defence, awsome speed and man can he put some hits on. Good on you Burleigh you're still in the line for the finals.

I played with him at the Canterbury Bulldogs and yeah he can hit - ask anyone in the NRL whose played against him. It's surprising he hasn't been picked up by an NRL side after a great defensive season with Burleigh.
