Melbourne workhorse Jeremy Smith said the Storm would target returning Dragons second-rower Ben Creagh tonight as part of a plan to shut down St George Illawarra's attacking strikepower.
Smith revealed the Storm have identified Creagh as the Dragons' most dangerous weapon until he was sidelined with a quad injury three weeks ago.
Creagh had been in sensational form as part of St George Illawarra's mid-season surge, making a number of devastating line breaks running off Ben Hornby on the left edge.
"He was playing great footy," said Smith, who will join St George Illawarra under incoming coach Wayne Bennett next year.
"I don't know how much work he has been able to do because of the injury, but he'll definitely be targeted. We'll certainly be trying to work him over."
Creagh has not played since the Dragons beat Penrith in round 15, having suffering the quad injury at training last month.
But the hard-running back-rower yesterday declared he was fully fit and ready to fire.
"It was an annoying time for me. I was enjoying it before I got injured, I was feeling really fit," Creagh said.
"But I've been working hard and training every day to get back."
Dragons coach Nathan Brown said he did not expect a direct showdown between State of Origin combatants Mark Gasnier and Greg Inglis.
Brown has been switching Gasnier between wing in defence and fullback in attack, while Inglis has floated between centre and five-eighth for the Storm.
But with the Gasnier move having limited success in recent weeks, Melbourne have turned their attention on the impact Creagh could have in his comeback tonight.
Creagh said he was ready for whatever the Storm would throw at him.
"(Smith's) going well at the Storm and I'm looking forward to playing against (Michael) Crocker on that side as well," Creagh said.
"They've got some good forwards and we're looking forward to going up against guys like Brett White and Ryan Hoffman."
Smith said the Storm were wary of the Dragons being fired up tonight after an emotional week that saw Gasnier sign with French rugby club Stade Francais after a contractual wrangle over third-party sponsorships.
After overcoming Wests Tigers in fullback Brett Hodgson's final game at Campbelltown Stadium last week, Smith said he expected the Dragons to come out with plenty to prove.
"It was a tough win last week, with Hodgo playing his last game there," he said.
"But we won't be focused on that sort of thing. We'll just focus on getting our start to the game right and doing what we do best."
