Wendell Sailor doesn't believe he demands selection for Sunday's clash with Canberra at WIN Stadium and said he is ready to step aside if St George Illawarra coach Nathan Brown can't find a place for him in the team.
The dual international made a successful comeback - at the second attempt - in Saturday night's 24-16 win over Newcastle at EnergyAustralia Stadium.
Sailor, who has been sidelined for the past month with a fractured cheekbone suffered in his first comeback against Brisbane, defused several Knights attacking raids on his wing.
And he almost covered himself in glory with a 70m break, only to be tackled into touch through some brilliant cover defence by Jarrod Mullen.
But Sailor said the form of his team-mates, most notably centre Chase Stanley, meant he could not count on wearing the Dragons No 5 jersey again this weekend.
"If not, look Chase Stanley is doing a good job," he said.
"I'll bide my time, so if I need to go to Burleigh I will.
"It's about the team, it's not about me."
The Dragons had struck a deal that would have seen Sailor play with Queensland Cup team Burleigh, before Brown decided to thrust the 33-year-old straight back into the NRL.
But Brown is expected to have a full squad at his disposal against the Raiders, with State of Origin star Mark Gasnier likely to overcome a back injury, while second-rower Ben Creagh (knee) and Matt Cooper (quad) are also likely to be fit.
It is perfect timing for Brown, who after being given his notice earlier this season, has been the mastermind behind a stunning Dragons turnaround this year.
The Dragons are now looking to equal their record eight-game winning streak of 2005 with victory over the Raiders on Sunday.
Sailor likened the camaraderie at the club to some of the great premiership teams, including the Broncos where he played in four title-winning sides after debuting back in 1993.
"I like what we've got here," he said.
"What you need to win a premiership is a real good squad. The Broncos have had it in the past, Melbourne have had it and the Crusaders in the Super 14 (rugby) have had a good squad.
"With Coops and Gaz coming back, this is what sets you up for the season.
"We've set the platform, but we can't let it slip."
While Sailor said he was pleased with his performance, he admitted he would have loved to have raced away to score untouched when he intercepted a crossfield kick and pinned his ears back for the tryline, only to be put into touch by Mullen just metres short.
"On a personal level I would have loved to score that try," he said.
"My young bloke came in and said 'Dad, you need some sprint training'.
"So I got a bit of a sledge there.
"But I was just happy my positional play is on the money, we worked a lot at that."
