Shoalhaven coach Paul Mulready believes he has the game plan to bring down Avondale and snap their seven-match winning streak in today's top-of-the-table Illawarra Rugby Union clash at Shoalhaven Rugby Park.
First-placed Avondale have compiled their winning run with the help of a miserly defence that has given up only one try in the last month.
The power running game of the Wombats and coach Les Sperring's new defensive system have Avondale confident of premiership success.
But Mulready says he can see some chinks in Avondale's defensive armour.
He says his side won't avoid a physical confrontation but their edge may be in their mobility and ability to use the ball.
"We've got a solid forward pack but we'll play a mixed game, using the ball and trying to get them off balance," Mulready said.
"They're defending really well and their forward pack is physically imposing - but (they are) poor lateral movers so we'll try and get them there."
The Shoalies were the last team to defeat Avondale, back in May, and since then Shoalhaven themselves have only lost once.
Last time the sides clashed Mulready thought the competition leaders were a touch underdone and says his team could struggle for cohesion this time around.
"We definitely needed the hit-out last week," Mulready said of his team's scratchy 24-15 win over Kiama.
"They've got good momentum going into this game. They've got that continuity and that's the danger - that we won't be able to get into the rhythm of the game."
In other games, Shamrocks host last-placed Camden, Vikings play Kiama at Vikings Oval and at University Oval, Kiama's season goes on the line when they play the fourth-placed Mallee Bulls.
