Wollongong FC keeper Justin Pasfield holds his Beijing Olympics hopes and dreams in his trusty hands.
The Lake Heights 23-year-old has kept nine clean sheets for the Wolves this season and has also kept faith that a spot in-goal for the Olyroos is there for his taking.
Pasfield is in a 33-man Australian under 23 squad for training camps on the Central Coast and in Darwin over the next two weeks, before coach Graham Arnold names the 18-man Beijing squad in early July.
After five days in Gosford, the squad moves to Darwin for two friendlies against the Chilean under 23s next Friday and Sunday.
Pasfield said the latest twist in the Danny Vukovic saga had helped his own Olympic cause.
FIFA last week overruled an FFA decision to split Vukovic's ban for striking referee Mark Shield during this year's A-League grand final.
The tailor-made ban was to allow the Central Coast Mariners stopper - who starred during the Olyroos' qualifying campaign - to play in Beijing.
Central Coast will appeal to FIFA on Vukovic's behalf.
"It's unfortunate for him - he's a great guy and a great goalkeeper," Pasfield said.
"I'm not really worried about the other guys competing for a spot, I'm just worried about myself.
"It is a great chance to show Arnie and the selectors that I can play at that level."
Other keepers include Perth's Tando Velaphi, Melbourne's Mitchell Langerak and Irish-based Chris O'Connor.
Bulli junior Ruben Zadkovic - now with English Championship club Derby County - is also in the squad.
Under FIFA rules, three players over 23 can be added to Olympic squads.
So, how does Justin Pasfield - Olympian, sound?
"I have goosebumps just thinking about it," he said.
"The Olympic Games are a one-time opportunity - it would be unbelievable. As a kid I wanted to play for my country ... playing at the Olympics has always been a massive goal of mine."
Pasfield was in the Australian under 23 squad for a March international against Mexico in California.
"I have been in this situation before, I know what the selectors want," Pasfield said.
"I'm going up there to impress and get into the team," he said.
Pasfield will enter the camp in great form and was named in the NSW Premier League team of the week.
"I'm doing all right, I'm just really enjoying my football," Pasfield said.
"It's a credit to the boys in front of me too - Ben Blake, Danial Cummins, Michael West and Tynan Diaz have been great.
If Pasfield is selected for Beijing, he will be missing for the rest of the Wolves' regular season campaign.
However, he could be back for the last two weeks of the finals.
"I would probably miss all of August - hopefully the boys would do a job and get us to the grand final," Pasfield said.
