THE AWARDS
The Illawarra Mercury in conjunction with Portofino presents the 31st annual Sports Star of the Year Awards, recognising the very best local sports performers of the past year.
The awards celebrate our sporting champions and the members of our community who support the various sports.
Over the years the awards have recognised many sporting greats, including Mike Cronin (rugby league); Wayne Gardner (500cc world motorcycle champion); Josh and Ben Kersten (cycling); Brett Lee (cricket); the late Kerryn McCann (running); and Darren Mercer (iron man).
You get to cast your vote in the People's Choice category of the awards. Click the banner at the top of this page to register your vote.
The Sports Star of the Year Awards, including the People's Choice winner, will be presented at an invitation-only function held at the Portofino on Friday February 24, 2012 at 6.30pm.
If you vote in our People's Choice poll, you will be in the running to win two tickets to the Sports Star event. The winning voter, selected randomly, will be announced on Tuesday, February 21st
Voting opens on Saturday, February 11, and closes on Friday, February 17, 2012.
